Feed-in tariffs to save money and energy
Any organisations with wind turbines or CHP plants can benefit from Britain’s renewable energy feed-in tariffs that kick off today.Feed-in tariffs for systems installed before April 2012 start today and range from 4.5p to 41.3p per kWhr, depending on the source and the output level of equipment.
For example, wind power if generated on equipment designed from 1.5 to 5MW output will net 4.5p per kWhr.
But if the output is greater than 15 but less than 100kW then the tariff is 24.1p.
Organisations will receive a payment for all the electricity they produce, whether they use it themselves or export it into the grid, in which case they get an additional bonus payment.
Businesses can also cut energy bills for any energy they produce and use.
The tariffs are to boost the level of renewable energy towards the national target of 15 per cent of total energy produced by 2020.
